Survey: 80% Leveraging Mobile Technology for Work
GLENVIEW, IL–(Marketwired – October 03, 2014) – Mobile use is becoming increasingly prevalent for small businesses, as 80 percent of SurePayroll customers with 1-10 employees said they are leveraging mobile technology in their work. As many as one in three small business owners spend 30 percent of their time working on a mobile device, according to a recent survey. One in 10 use their mobile device 50 percent of the time, and on the opposite side of the spectrum, 16 percent don’t do any work on a tablet or smartphone.

“We see the increase in mobile use from our customers, as many of them do payroll for their businesses straight from our mobile app. And we can all see how our phones are a constant part of our daily lives now. It only makes sense that business owners are using the technology for business a larger percentage of the time,” said SurePayroll Vice President Scott Brandt.
The survey also asked small business owners, primarily those with 1-10 employees, if they use Apple or Android devices for business purposes. Of those surveyed, 58 percent said they use Apple for work and 32 percent said they use Android devices. It’s a sharp contrast mobile globally, as a Business Insider study found Android had a 78 percent share of all users. Only 1.6 percent in the SurePayroll survey said they use Blackberry and just half of 1 percent use the new Amazon smartphone.
“We asked people why they used the platform they chose and with Apple, the word that came up over and over again was ‘easy.’ Small business owners tend to be responsible for so many aspects of the business, the more simple and streamlined things are, the better,” said Brandt. “The people who use Android talked more about flexibility, price and compatibility. It really comes down to your comfort level with the different operating systems.”
