In her new role, Ward will assume expanded responsibilities related to the financial operations of the Company, including strategic initiatives, expense management, and relationships with rating agencies (e.g., A.M. Best) and regulatory bodies (e.g., NYDFS)
BINGHAMTON, NY, August 1, 2022 – The Board of Directors of Security Mutual Life® Insurance Company of New York, approved the promotion of Mary C. Ward, FLMI , to the position of Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer.
Ward will continue to oversee the Company’s fiscal functions. In addition to being a member of the Finance and Internal Audit Teams, Ward serves as Co-Chair of the Enterprise Risk Management Committee. She is also a member of the following Security Mutual Life committees: Diversity, Equity & Inclusion; Asset Liability Management; Product Management; Talent Management and Benefits; Home Office Pension Plan Investment; Profit Sharing Investment; and Security Compliance.
Years Of Experience
Ward began her career with Security Mutual Life in 2008, joining the Financial Operations Department as Director, Financial Reporting. She advanced to the positions of Assistant Vice President, Budget and Cost Accounting; Second Vice President, Financial Operations; Vice President, Financial Operations, and prior to this new role, held the position of Senior Vice President, Chief Accounting Officer.
She is a graduate of St. Bonaventure University, where she earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting, and she has successfully completed the FLMI® designation.
Ward is a Trustee of the Security Mutual Life Foundation; past member of the Binghamton University School of Management Advisory Board; past Board Member of the UHS Foundation and is a past treasurer and secretary for the board of directors of the Discovery Center of the Southern Tier.
