Lawrence "Larry" Hazzard Named President of Berkshire Life

An important leadership role in the Berkshire County community

The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America announced that Lawrence “Larry” Hazzard has been named President of Berkshire Life Insurance Company of America (Berkshire Life), a wholly owned stock subsidiary of Guardian.

Hazzard replaces Senior Vice President Gordon Dinsmore, who will focus on new product innovation and ensure a smooth transition of his responsibilities before retiring at the end of the year. Dinsmore’s 10 years of service provided strong leadership and consistency to Guardian’s Disability Income (DI) insurance business.

Hazzard, Vice President, Head of Individual and Multi-Life DI Product and Underwriting, will take on expanded responsibilities as head of all DI Product, Underwriting and Claims, as well as become President of Berkshire Life, an important leadership role in the Berkshire County community. He has been with Guardian over 12 years and brings more than 25 years of DI leadership to his new role, with a strong reputation for product innovation focused on consumers. Hazzard will report to Andrew McMahon, Executive Vice President, Individual Markets, Enterprise Strategy and Customer Development.
