To oversee regulatory, compliance & due-diligence matters
February 13, 2019 04:00 PM Eastern Standard Time — LINCOLN, Mass.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Athena Capital Advisors, a privately owned, independent registered investment advisor with $5.5 billion in assets under management, is pleased to announce the promotion of Dana K. O’Brien to General Counsel.
Ms. O’Brien joined Athena Capital in 2014 and most recently served as Deputy General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer. She will continue her role as Chief Compliance Officer.
Leonard Lewin, who has served as General Counsel and Vice Chairman of the Board for over a decade, will remain as Vice Chairman on Athena’s Board of Directors and continue oversight of client relationships in his capacity as a Managing Partner of the firm.
Involved in all aspects of the firm’s legal matters

In her role as General Counsel, Ms. O’Brien will oversee all of Athena’s legal matters while continuing to manage the regulatory compliance team. Ms. O’Brien also works closely with the client and research teams to conduct due diligence and perform comprehensive legal reviews on all alternative investments and chairs Athena’s Operating Committee. She remains based in Athena’s Lincoln, Massachusetts, headquarters.
Prior to joining Athena, Ms. O’Brien served as Chief Compliance Officer and Director of Administration and Legal Affairs for Fisher Lynch Capital LLC. Previously, she was Director of Operations and Legal Affairs at MPM Capital LLC. She earned her B.A. in History from the College of the Holy Cross and her J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law with High Honors.
