National Retirement Planning Week® 2014 Scheduled April 7 to 11

Weeklong Coalition Effort Seeks to Focus Nation’s Attention on Long-Term Financial Goals

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Insured Retirement Institute (IRI) today announced that National Retirement Planning Week® 2014 will take place from April 7 to 11. Held during financial literacy month, National Retirement Planning Week® is led by the National Retirement Planning Coalition, a group of prominent education, consumer advocacy and financial services organizations that have joined together to promote and increase awareness of the need for comprehensive retirement planning.

National Retirement Planning Week® 2014 events and activities:

  • Monday, April 7: IRI will host a kickoff conference call for reporters and unveil new research findings from its fourth annual report on Boomers’ retirement expectations. The call will begin at 10 a.m. eastern time and will include a panel representing coalition partners and industry experts. To register, please email Andrew Simonelli at asimonelli@irionline.org.
  • Tuesday, April 8: The Jump$tart Coalition will host its annual financial literacy awards dinner.
  • Wednesday, April 9: The American Savings Education Council and its partners will host a meeting at 9:00 a.m. eastern time at the Kaiser Family Foundation’s Barbara Jordan Conference Center in Washington, D.C., to discuss new retirement trends, research and planning tools. Registration is required.
    IRI and BlackRock will present a webinar for financial advisors on Social Security and its part within a winning retirement strategy. The webinar, scheduled for 2 p.m. eastern time, will feature Chad Terry, BlackRock’s Director of Investment and Retirement Education.
  • Thursday, April 10: IRI will convene a retirement security discussion during a Capitol Hill event at noon. More details to follow. To register, please email GovAffairs@irionline.org.
