MassAHU Embraces 2014 Board of Directors

Association continues mission to serve advisors at work in the healthcare insurance domain

Boston, MA July 24, 2014 – The Massachusetts Association of Health Underwriters (MassAHU) is a trade association representing over 1,000 health insurance agents, brokers and advisors statewide and has been in the forefront of advocacy and public awareness on the role and contributions that employee benefits professionals bring to the public.

“MassAHU plays a central role in guiding the insurance industry along with state and federal agencies on related issues and policy impacting our employer clients and their employees and families. Amidst the ever-changing health care/insurance landscape, brokers, agents, and advisors serve in a critical role – helping employers to understand and navigate pathways to safe ground,” observes David A. Shore, with Borislow Insurance Agency and president of MassAHU. “Being asked to continue in this leadership role is a tremendous honor.” Mr. Shore is also a leading member of other prominent industry associations, including Insurance Company Broker Advisory Councils of the Massachusetts Health Insurance Connector (“The Exchange”) Broker Advisory Council and Steering Committee. He works closely with legislators, law and policy makers at national, state and local levels.

Completing this veteran board of directors are president elect, Christopher Powers, Senior Vice President, Benefit Development Group in Worcester; Paul Pietro, CLU, ChFC, Chairman of Mid-State Insurance in Worcester, serving as treasurer; Marie Chalmers, Managing Director, Employee Benefits Services at Marsh & McLennan Agency of Boston, serving as secretary; Julie Jennings, RHU, LIA, CLTC, Vice President of Employee Benefits at Sylvia and Company Insurance Agency in Dartmouth; Jean Russell, founder of BenefitsMart in Burlington; Holly Taylor, LHU, LIA of True North Insurance Agency, Inc. in Williamstown; Robert DiMase, AIF, Executive Vice President of Sentinel Insurance Agency, Inc. in Reading; Todd McDonald, President of Aisling-Partners Insurance Brokerage, LLC, in Worcester; Jeff Rich, CEO of NFP Health in Braintree; Gary Fradin, Author, lecturer and President at TheMedicalGuide; Robert A. Landry, owner of New England Benefits in Andover; Joe Lawler, CEBS with The Gaudreau Group in Wilbraham; past president, Mark Gaunya, GBA, LIA and Principal of Borislow Insurance Agency, continues to be very active on behalf of brokers locally and nationally as the NAHU Chair of the Healthcare Cost and Quality Transparency Taskforce and Mim Minichiello, newly elected as vice president of MassAHU. Ms. Minichiello is a Senior Partner and CCO of EBS Capstone located in Newton.

MassAHU also welcomes our newest board member Brian Cavallo of Health Services Administrators in Braintree. Brian joins the MassAHU Board of Directors after many years of active membership and leadership on MassAHU’s membership committee.
