Financial Planning Association, TD Ameritrade Institutional to Enhance Thought Leadership in the Financial Planning Community

Helping planners build stronger businesses

DENVER (September 26, 2017) – With an eye toward helping financial planners build stronger businesses and better serve the needs of their clients, the Financial Planning Association® (FPA®) and TD Ameritrade Institutional today announced a strategic relationship to augment and distribute thought leadership content to Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) professionals and members of FPA’s 23,000 member community.

“TD Ameritrade Institutional has been one of the premier financial institutions for years and they have made it their purpose to help financial planners operate successful businesses and serve millions of clients,” says 2017 FPA President Shannon J. Pike, CFP®. “As an exceptional thought leader in financial services, we look forward to working with them to bring their content and subject-matter experts to the FPA community to help our members succeed now and in the future.”

TD Ameritrade Institutional content and subject matter experts will augment the educational offerings provided to FPA members at in-person conferences and through FPA’s virtual learning platform and communities.

This content integration will be on display at the 2017 FPA Annual Conference in Nashville when Vanessa Oligino, Director of Business Performance Solutions at TD Ameritrade Institutional, will present on how financial planning firms can secure their futures on Tuesday, Oct. 3 at 1:45 pm. Oligino will address the many ways firms are exposed to risks today and how advisers can identify areas of vulnerability, limit risk exposure, and strategies for proactively assessing opportunities.

Independent planner5s play a highly valuable role

“We strongly believe independent financial planners play a highly valuable role by helping American families pursue their financial goals. We’re also strongly committed to helping these professionals pursue their own goals by delivering programs, tools and expertise they can leverage to run better businesses,” said Kate Healy, Managing Director, Generation Next, TD Ameritrade Institutional. “Through this relationship, we intend to engage with more FPA members with our educational resources, thought leadership and business management expertise.”

FPA’s program is an effort of the association to engage in more meaningful, collaborative relationships where participants can support FPA members and the financial planning community in general and CFP® professionals specifically. The goal is to purposefully collaborate with participants– like TD Ameritrade Institutional – more thoughtfully with the goal of supporting practitioners and the profession of financial planning.
