Annual Campaign Donates Money, Toys, Books and Nearly 21 Tons of Food and Clothing
MINNEAPOLIS – Dec. 14, 2018 – To help make a difference in the Twin Cities community this holiday season, employees of Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America (Allianz Life®) donated more than 22,600 pounds of food, 18,775 pounds of clothing; and 5,180 new toys for local nonprofits. In addition, employees and the company donated $204,590, which was raised through raffles, donations for the ability to dress casual for the month, bake sales, contests and gift wrapping over the past five weeks.
“Our annual Spirit of Giving campaign always brings out the best in our employees, who donate goods, money and time to help the people in our community,” said Walter White, president and CEO, Allianz Life. “I’m proud of this effort, and the positive impact it has for our nonprofit partner organizations as they strive to make the holidays brighter for many in the Twin Cities.”
The four area nonprofits that benefited from the Allianz Life Spirit of Giving campaign are:
- PRISM (People Responding in Social Ministry), a social service agency located in Golden Valley, Minn. that helps thousands of families and seniors in need
- The Arc Minnesota, which in turn funds programs for people with developmental disabilities
- Second Harvest Heartland, the Upper Midwest’s largest hunger relief organization
- Toys for Tots, which distributes toys to children whose parents cannot afford them
During the campaign’s 19 years, Allianz Life employees have given more than:
- $1,125,000 in cash donations,
- 370,500 pounds of food, and
- 357,750 pounds of clothing.
