The panel was part of the launch program of the International Women’s Forum 2014 class of “On the Board” fellows, a second-year program designed to prepare and promote female directors on corporate boards around the world. The panel, moderated by co-anchor and managing editor of PBS NewsHour Judy Woodruff, also included Christina Gold, retired president and CEO of The Western Union Company and director at ITT Corp., New York Life, and International Flavor and Fragrances, Inc. To an audience of approximately 150 Washington, D.C., business leaders, George Washington University stakeholders and partners of the International Women’s Forum, McDonnell spoke about her experiences as a female executive of a financial institution and the importance of having women in board and leadership roles in companies.
“We’re in the midst of a very exciting time for women in business, and it was a privilege to be able to participate in an event alongside distinguished leaders like Christina, Soha and Judy,” McDonnell said. “The diversity of thought brought about by more and more women entering the board room will bring opportunities to grow and innovate businesses globally.”
